Fish our 12 acre lake, surrounded by mature oaks and pines and set in the beautiful 350 acre Château de Beynac estate. The lake has many good swims and is substantially snag-free.

Reasonably priced hotel, guest house and other accommodation is available locally. For those just bivvying, there are shower and toilet facilities on the farm.

We also keep good quality well trained horses on the farm so that those who wish to break from fishing can ride out in the local countryside.

Fish Stock

We emptied the lake in December 1998 to register the stock. We confirmed over 2000 Kg of carp, ranging from 3 to 14Kgs. There were others in the lake that we could not reach that were perhaps in excess of this.

We have since bought in another 600 Kgs of carp ranging from 6 to 13Kgs, including two superb Koi carp of 10 and 11+ Kgs. We also put in some Cats of up to 12 Kgs (they're growing fast!).

Local Amenities

St Saud is a quiet, easy-going commune in the Périgord Vert area of the Dordogne. A good range of accommodation is available, including:

  • Horse riding on the château estate and surrounding countryside

  • Gites, hotels and other holiday accommodation nearby

  • Local shops, bars, tabac (with much for the angler) and tennis court

  • Hotels, from "budget to gourmet"

  • Bed and Breakfast

  • Gite

Restaurants offer Périgourdine and other specialities in most price brackets. Unusually, there is a bar tabacwhich opens all hours (7 am to midnight or later) and carries a wealth of stock for anglers. The local shops provide for most holiday needs.
