Attractive, wisteria clad stone farmhouse, situated in a pretty hamlet
2km from the large village of St Saud-Lacousière. The house is
set in one-third acre of garden, which can be secured for children or
pets, and is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Périgord-Limousin
Regional Park by car, bicycle, canoe or on foot.
The house has 3 large bedrooms: 1 double with cot, 1 twin and 1 triple with 3 single beds. A bathroom with combined bath and shower and WC. The ground floor features oak beams and chestnut floors throughout. The living room is spacious with a working fireplace, books, games, hifi system and eclectic music collection! The well-equipped kitchen/dining room has seating for 8 and a dishwasher. The recently converted stable has a charming double bedroom and large en suite shower room with WC and a washing machine.
St Saud, the local village is an easy 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by car, offers many amenities. There are two hotels (one of which is 3-star), several restaurants, a bakery, bar tabac, grocery shop, two garages and a large bucket and spade swimming lake. Tennis, Horse Riding and Fishing are also available locally. The nearest town for supermarket shopping is Nontron, about 15 minutes drive, while the market towns of Brantôme, Thiviers and Piégut are all within easy reach.
The nearest
cities, Périgueux, Angoulême and Limoges are all roughly
1 hour away while lassic towns such as Brive and Sarlat are about 2 hours
away. From Calais the distance is 470m, around 7 of hours mainly motorway
driving. From Caen and St Malo the distance is around 350m. Fast TGVs
run to Angoulême via Lille and Ryan air flys to Limoges. Car hire
is available at both these destinations.
